UPMC 8 Hour Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) Certification Program

On July 9, 2011 Members of Local Union 31 participated in the UPMC 8 Hour Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) Certification Program at the OP&CMIA Western Pennsylvania Training Facility.

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has instituted a requirement that all Construction Workers who desire to work on UPMC facilities must have attended and successfully completed the UPMC Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) 8 Hour Class.

To that end Local 31 took the necessary steps to ensure that our Safety Program meets with the requirement of UPMC to become a recognized provider of the UPMC ICRA-8 Hour Course.

This past Saturday Local 31 held its first course under the supervision of Jeffrey D. Clair of UPMC. The Members attending successfully completed the course and Local 31 is now recognized by UPMC to administer the course.

Over the coming months Local 31 will schedule multiple dates for our Members to receive this Certification.

We cannot emphasize enough how important this Certification is to our Members.

Construction Workers who do not have this Certification will not be permitted to work on UPMC facilities.

We strongly encourage all Members to consider participating when course dates are announced.
